Alejandro Garnacho breaks silence after brutal Enzo Maresca decision in Chelsea win

Alejandro Garnacho took to social media after Chelsea's 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest, during which he was substituted at half-time. The Argentine made a £40million switch to Chelsea this summer following a fallout with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, but his time at Stamford Bridge appears to have been anything but smooth sailing.

Garnacho has only appeared in three Premier League matches under Enzo Maresca this campaign so far - and was substituted as the second half began during Saturday's 3-0 victory at the City Ground. Only Joao Pedro had fewer touches than the 21-year-old winger in the first 45 minutes, who managed just 18 before he was replaced by Jamie Gittens at half-time.

The youngster also found himself on the receiving end of a stern talking-to from Pedro Neto midway through the first half, too, when his cross towards the back post went out of play instead of reaching the former Wolves star.

During the break, pundit Peter Crouch said: "Chelsea were a bit sloppy. Credit to Enzo for making those changes. I know Neto was really frustrated with him [Garnacho]... He was crossing the ball and not getting on the other side. Neto was really frustrated with him."

Elsewhere, Marc Guiu replaced Andrey Santos, while Romeo Lavia was substituted off for Moises Caicedo, as the second half kicked off with the score at 0-0. However, it didn't take long for the Blues to break the deadlock, with Josh Acheampong netting the opening goal 49 minutes into the game.

Neto doubled the tally for the afternoon just three minutes later, before Reece James sealed the deal with a third goal six minutes from time. Despite - perhaps - being upset about being substituted by Maresca, Garnacho took to social media on Saturday evening to share his thoughts on the victory.

Posting a picture of himself in action on his Instagram stories, he wrote: "Happy for these three important points!" accompanied by blue and white heart emojis. It follows the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou as Nottingham Forest manager in the wake of the defeat.

The Australian head coach's tenure at Forest was short-lived - lasting only 39 days - as he failed to secure a win in any of his eight matches in charge. It comes months after he was dismissed at Tottenham.

A statement released less than 20 minutes after the final whistle read: "Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.

"The club will make no further comment at this time."
