Premier League: When was the last time Manchester United beat Liverpool at Anfield?

Manchester United pulled off a shock 2-1 victory over defending champion Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

Bryan Mbeumo put the visitor ahead in the second minute before Cody Gakpo drew level in the 78th minute. But defender Harry Maguire found the net six minutes later to break the deadlock and seal United’s win.

This was the Red Devils’ first win at the home of their arch-rival in almost 10 years. United’s last win at Anfield came 3,564 days back, on January 17, 2016, when Wayne Rooney scored in the 78th minute in a 1-0 win.

That Manchester United side bears no resemblance to the one that took the field on Sunday. Louis Van Gaal was Manchester United’s manager and no player from that squad currently plays for the club.

With this reverse, Liverpool’s losing streak in all competitions stretched to four games. Arne Slot’s side also slipped down the points table, now sitting in the fourth place with 15 points from eight games.
