Will Afghanistan boycott Pakistan after India? A big step taken by Rashid Khan

When Pakistan carried out the Pahalgam attack in April, India decided to boycott Pakistan on every platform. Our armed forces gave a befitting reply to our neighbors through Operation Sindoor, but the boycott did not stop. Its effect was also felt in the world of cricket. India played a match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup to avoid facing sanctions from international confederations, but here Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India expressed its anger by refusing to shake hands with Pakistani players.

Now Afghanistan too seems to be following this drive. The war between Pakistan and Afghanistan continues. Recently, Pakistan carried out an airstrike on Afghanistan, which killed several people, including three Afghan cricketers. After the death of the players, Afghanistan decided to withdraw from the tri-series in Pakistan next month. Sri Lanka is the third team in this tri-series along with Pakistan and Afghanistan. However, after Afghanistan’s withdrawal, Pakistan have now included Zimbabwe in the tri-series.

Saddened by the death of players, Afghanistan T20 captain Rashid Khan has taken a big step. He has removed the name of Pakistan Super League team Lahore Qalandars from his X account. Like India, Afghanistan is also expected to gradually boycott Pakistan in the cricketing world.

Afghanistan has not played any bilateral series with Pakistan since receiving Test status, although their A teams toured the country frequently before the International Cricket Council recognized it, and many Afghan players also trained in the country. At one time, Pakistan even allowed Afghanistan cricketers to play in their domestic tournaments. Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan are now strained, with Afghanistan boycotting Pakistan after the deaths of three cricketers.

Three of the deceased players have been identified as Kabir, Sibghatullah and Haroon, while five others were also killed in the attack. There are reports that Pakistan has carried out airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Paktika province. After a 48-hour ceasefire, fighting resumed with dozens of casualties on both sides. The attacks targeted residential areas of Arjun and Barmal districts on the Durand Line. The Taliban called the attacks a violation of the ceasefire as delegations from the two countries held talks in Doha to defuse the crisis.
