Starting the morning with healthy habits like drinking black coffee, eating nuts, or taking a short walk can benefit your liver.

The liver handles essential tasks like detoxification, digestion, and metabolism. It filters toxins, regulates blood sugar, and produces bile to aid digestion. Liver failure can trigger a chain reaction that affects other organs, according to Times of India.

Lifestyle choices is crucial to keeping the liver healthy. Below are some simple morning habits that can help with liver function.

1. Exercise regularly

Staying active is one of the easiest ways to protect liver health. Starting the day with light exercises such as a 20-minute walk or jog can help improve liver function. Regular workouts lower triglycerides and reduce fat buildup in the liver.

2. Drink coffee

Coffee can help reduce fatty liver, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and the risk of liver cancer. Drinking up to three cups of black coffee without sugar or milk a day is recommended, as added ingredients can lessen its positive effects. Moderate consumption and proper coffee brewing methods can improve liver health further.

3. Add blueberries to breakfast

Diet plays a major role in liver health. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is often linked to poor diet and lack of exercise. Blueberries contain anthocyanins, an antioxidant that protect the liver from oxidative stress and inflammation. They help reduce fibrosis and may help reverse NAFLD. Adding a handful of blueberries to oatmeal or yogurt for breakfast can boost liver function.

4. Eat a handful of nuts

A healthy mid-morning snack can benefit the liver. A small handful, about 28 grams, of nuts such as walnuts or almonds provides healthy fats, antioxidants, and vitamin E. Walnuts are a staple food in the Mediterranean diet, known as one of the healthiest eating patterns in the world.

5. Maintain good hygiene

Good hygiene helps prevent liver- diseases while poor hygiene can spread hepatitis A and B, viruses that cause liver inflammation and scarring. Washing hands thoroughly with soap for at least 20 seconds after using the restroom, before eating, and after cooking reduces the risk of infection.
