Lucknow. The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is going to take another big initiative towards strengthening the infrastructure of the state. In line with the continuous development in the field of road transport, a new expressway is now being prepared, which will extend from Gorakhpur in the eastern part of the state to Haryana’s industrial city Panipat.

Direct road from Eastern UP to Western Haryana

This new access controlled expressway will be approximately 700 kilometers long and most of it will be built under greenfield project. Earlier its plan was from Gorakhpur to Shamli, but now it has been extended to Panipat in Haryana. This road will connect the developing districts of Eastern UP with the industries of Haryana and open doors to new economic opportunities.

Expressway will pass through these districts

The proposed route includes important districts like Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Lucknow, Sitapur, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Moradabad, Meerut and Amroha. These districts have immense potential for local crafts and agro-based products under the “One District, One Product (ODOP)” scheme, which will be helped in reaching the national and international markets through this expressway.

Industrial Benefits: Bridge between Panipat and UP

Panipat city of Haryana is famous for textile, furniture, paper and agro-based industries. At the same time, a large number of workers and artisans from UP go to work in Haryana. The construction of this expressway will not only ensure better movement of human resources between the two states, but will also give new impetus to commercial activities.

Work on DPR continues, construction will start in 2026

According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the detailed project report (DPR) of this project is currently being prepared. The report is taking an in-depth study of points like road direction, required infrastructure, traffic projections, and environmental impact. Construction work is likely to begin in 2026 and is targeted to be completed within approximately two and a half years. Initially this expressway will have four to six lanes, but in future it can be expanded to eight lanes. Due to this, there will be no impact on traffic even in case of increase in traffic in future.
