Kiratpur (Bijnor): A mother of two children committed suicide by consuming poison with an unmarried lover half her age. On Monday, both were found unconscious in the sugarcane field. They were immediately taken to the hospital, but both died during treatment. The police conducted post-mortem and handed over the bodies to the relatives. No complaint has been given in this matter yet.

The incident started when 37-year-old Aarti, wife of Jagmohan, of Hussainpur Sultan village of Kiratpur police station area, suddenly went missing from home on Monday afternoon. The family started searching for him. Then 21 year old Lalit of the same village, who is the son of Jograj, surprised everyone by calling. He said that he and Aarti had swallowed poison and both were lying in the sugarcane field.

The family members immediately ran towards the forest. Both were found unconscious in a field outside the village. The police took him to the Community Health Center Kiratpur. From there he was shifted to Bijnor Medical College hospital. Aarti died during treatment. The family took Lalit to a private hospital, but by the time he reached there, he too stopped breathing.

Police station in-charge Pushpa Devi said that no pesticide was found from the spot. Further investigation will take place after the post mortem report comes. No one has filed any complaint yet.

Illegal affair was going on for four years

Initial police investigation revealed that Aarti and Lalit were in an illicit relationship for four years. Both of them had run away from home on October 1. Aarti’s family had lodged a report at the police station. Under police pressure, both of them reached the police station on 15 October.

According to the police station in-charge, on the statement of Aarti, she was sent along with her husband Jagmohan. Lalit was left out. Aarti has an 11 year old daughter and 8 year old son. Jagmohan works at a sweet shop in Kiratpur. Lalit used to work in a company of Haridwar SIDCUL.
