Prince Andrew has received yet another major blow, following the latest bombshells about his past, after a new poll found that four in five Britons want his Dukedom of York to be axed. The royal, who announced he will no longer use the title of Duke of York or any of his other titles and honours, has been further dragged into the Jeffrey Epstein scandal in recent weeks.

Last Friday, Andrew released a bombshell announcement saying that "in discussion with the King," he has decided to no longer use his honours and titles in a bid to avoid the public's distraction from the work of the monarch and the Royal Family. However, despite saying that he will no longer use them, the prince, a title he will always have as the son of Queen Elizabeth II, still retains his HRH style, as well as the rest of his titles and honours, which has sparked fury by the public.

Only legislation can officially remove Andrew's Dukedom.

A new poll by YouGov showed that the British public, in their majority, fully support the idea of stripping Andrew of his Dukedom, with 80% saying so, including 63% who "strongly" support such a measure.

Another 17% said they are "somewhat" supporting the idea, while only 6% said they are opposed to the idea.

The move is backed across the whole political spectrum, with nearly nine in 10 (88%) Labour voters being in favour, alongside 82% of Lib Dems, 81% of Conservative voters and 80% of Reform UK voters.

There had long been calls for Andrew to lose his Dukedom, given to him by the late Queen on the morning of his 1986 wedding to Sarah Ferguson, who will also no longer be called Duchess of York, after the long-running furore over his ties to convicted sex offender Epstein.

The King has already ruled that Andrew will no longer attend Christmas Day service with the Royal Family - and the statement on Friday was viewed as a final banishment for the prince after the ongoing drip-feed of scandal over the years.

It comes as excerpts have been published of an upcoming posthumous memoir from Virginia Roberts Giufffre, who has alleged she was trafficked by Epstein and had sex with Andrew when she was 17.

Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing.
