Chinese fugitive captured in Nha Trang after one year in hiding

A Chinese man, suspected of being involved in an online scam syndicate, was arrested in Nha Trang after over a year on the run.

The Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security’s Criminal Investigation Agency, handed over Wu Ziqiang, a 42-year-old Chinese national, to Chinese authorities at the border gate in Lang Son Province on Tuesday.

This was done in accordance with legal regulations and diplomatic principles.

Wu is suspected of aiding the online scam syndicate and was wanted by Bao’an District Police in Shenzhen, China. An arrest warrant was issued for him on May 23, 2024.

He managed to flee to Vietnam through the border gate in Guangxi Province, China, which is adjacent to the Mong Cai Border Gate in Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam.

Recently, Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, in cooperation with other relevant units, tracked Wu to a hotel on Hoang Hoa Tham Street in Nha Trang, where he was arrested.
