LAHORE: Pakistan all-rounder Aamir Jamal has made the sad announcement of the loss of his infant baby daughter, revealing the sad news to fans and fellow cricketers via a tearful post on his official Instagram handle.
On the now-viral post on social media, Jamal posted a heartwarming photo of him cradling his baby’s small hand with a caption that touched many hearts and read:
“From Allah, to Allah. I couldn’t hold you longer, my lil angel. Baba & Mama will miss you. May you stay in higher ranks in Heaven.”
The post elicited an outpour of sympathy from Pakistan’s cricket community and followers across the globe. Condolences and wishes for strength flooded Jamal’s social media profile mere hours after the news was announced.
Former Pakistan skipper Sana Mir was one of the first to show support to the devastated cricketer, sending prayers of patience and strength to Aamir Jamal and his family. Some of his teammates and domestic cricketers too came out in support, recognizing the very personal loss.
Supporters termed the news “heart-shattering” and “words fail us” as several remembered Jamal’s humility and perseverance on and off the pitch. “No parent should ever have to endure such suffering. Our prayers are with Aamir bhai,” one supporter tweeted on X (formerly Twitter).
Aamir Jamal, aged 28, has played eight Tests, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and six Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for Pakistan. He has claimed 21 wickets in Tests and five in limited-overs cricket to establish himself as a future star pace-bowling all-rounder.
At home cricket, Jamal keeps delivering steadily, playing for Lahore Region Whites in the current Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025–26, where he is among the top bowlers. In his first-class career so far, he has taken 99 wickets from 40 matches.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will likely put out a statement expressing condolences, while fans continue sharing words of sympathy on social media.
The heart-wrenching loss is a poignant moment for the young cricketer, whose personal fortitude has tended to keep pace with his battling spirit on the field.
