West Bengal's booth-mapping process reviewed during ECI meeting in New Delhi

Election Commission of India reviewed West Bengal's booth-mapping and Special Intensive Revision preparedness. CEOs from most states attended the New Delhi meeting. Bengal's booth mapping will continue via BLO app. Over 3.96 crore electors' names are uploaded. Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts are exceptions to completed booth mapping.

Kolkata: The Booth-mapping process and SIR preparedness of West Bengal was reviewed at a crucial meeting held at Election Commission of India ( ECI) in New Delhi on the SIR exercise on Tuesday, where CEOs from all the states, except Bihar, participated.
Bengal CEO Manoj Agarwal participated in the meeting along with senior EC officials from Bengal.

The booth-mapping process in Bengal will continue and it will be done through BLO app henceforth, a top official told ET.
"The ECI today assessed the progress made on the directions previously issued to the CEOs to map the current electors with the electors as per the last SIR in the State/UT. 5. The Commission also reviewed the status of appointment and training of DEOs, EROs, AEROs, BLOs and BLAs," ECI statement said.


Names of around 3.96 crore electors have been uploaded on the Election Commission's website across West Bengal till date, after matching with the 2002 SIR data. The booth mapping process of all the districts, except natural disaster-hit Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts, was fully completed.

The Election Commission of India’s (ECI) two-day Conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) started today at the India International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Management (IIIDEM) in New Delhi today. The conference was presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in the presence of Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.
The Commission assessed the preparedness of offices of the CEOs of all States and UTs for the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, ECI said.
