Major Police Encounter in Delhi: Four Sigma Gangsters, Including Leader Ranjan Pathak, Killed

New Delhi: A joint team of the Delhi Police Crime Branch and the Bihar Police conducted a major encounter in Delhi’s Rohini area on Wednesday night, killing four of the most wanted gangsters from Bihar’s Sigma gang. The gang leader, Ranjan Pathak, a resident of Sitamarhi, Bihar, was also involved in the operation.

Encounter Incident

On the intervening night of October 22nd and 23rd, 2025, at approximately 2:20 am, a joint team of the Delhi Police Crime Branch and the Bihar Police engaged in an encounter with four suspected criminals on Bahadur Shah Marg in Rohini, between Doctor Ambedkar Chowk and Pansali Chowk.

Police had received information about their presence in Delhi. The encounter resulted in gunfire from both sides, with all four gangsters seriously injured.

Declared Dead in Hospital

Following the encounter, all four accused were admitted to Dr. BSA Hospital, Rohini, where doctors declared them dead.

Identification of the slain gangsters:

Ranjan Pathak (25 years) – father Manoj Pathak, village Malahai, Sursand police station, Sitamarhi district, Bihar

Bimlesh Mahato, alias Bimlesh Sahni (25 years old), father Sukhla Devi, Ratanpur, Bajpatti police station, Sitamarhi district, Bihar

Manish Pathak (33 years) – father Arvind Pathak, village Malahai, Sursand police station, Sitamarhi district, Bihar

Aman Thakur (21 years) – father Sanjeev Thakur, village Sherpur, Karawal Nagar, Delhi

The criminals were wanted in several cases

According to sources, these four accused were wanted in several serious criminal cases in Bihar, and the police were continuously trying to arrest them. Currently, the police are investigating their background and other records.

This encounter is being considered a major success for the police, as it has eliminated active members of the Sigma gang, who had long been a headache for the law. This action is expected to help in controlling crime in both Delhi and Bihar states.
