Chief Minister said, like Diwali, Chhath festival will also become an example.
Delhi News: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta inspected various ghats of the capital to review the preparations for the upcoming Chhath Puja. Along with the Chief Minister, his cabinet ministers were also present. CM Rekha Gupta visited Chhath Ghats located in Prembadi, Silangpur and Munak Canal and took stock of the arrangements. He said that the Delhi government is fully prepared to celebrate Chhath Puja this year with ‘divinity and grandeur’.
CM Rekha Gupta said that this time more than 1,000 Chhath Ghats are being built across the city. Of these, 17 model ghats are being built especially on the banks of river Yamuna. The government aims to build at least one model ghat in every sub-district, where all the necessary facilities are available to the devotees.
Along with religious sentiments, cultural colors will also be seen during Chhath festival. Cultural programs will be organized by Delhi Government at about 200 ghats. The Chief Minister said that this is not just a religious event but a ‘festival of devotion, faith and cultural unity’.

Delhi government is ensuring complete arrangements for tents, electricity, drinking water, toilets and sanitation at each ghat. CM Rekha Gupta said that this is the first time that the Delhi government is taking direct participation in a religious event on such a large scale. He said that all the MPs, MLAs, councilors and public representatives have made the public aware about the festival by running cleanliness campaigns in their respective areas.
CM Rekha Gupta said that just as Delhi created history through grand festival of lights and drone show during Diwali, similarly this year’s Chhath Puja will also be historic and inspiring. He said, ‘It is our endeavor that Delhi’s Chhath Puja is known as an ideal event across the country.’
Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa inspected Hathi Ghat near ITO and reviewed the preparations. He said that the government is ensuring complete arrangements during the Chhath festival keeping in mind cleanliness, safety and environmental balance.
Chhath festival is a four-day festival of faith dedicated to Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. During this time, devotees worship the Sun through fasting, bathing and collective worship. This festival is especially popular among the people of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Nepal, but lakhs of Purvanchal residents settled in Delhi celebrate it with utmost devotion and enthusiasm.
