According to Oriental DailyChia released a statement through her management company Tuesday saying the police arrived at her home early that morning, handcuffed Xiu and took him for questioning. Their children were at home and reportedly terrified, and she is worried about their well-being, she said.

Addressing allegations that Xiu had evaded military service, Chia said: “He will cooperate with the investigation and clarify the truth; that is everyone’s responsibility.”

According to Next AppleXiu admitted during questioning that he had paid NT$150,000 (US$4,870) to falsify medical records as saying he had high blood pressure to gain exemption from military service.

His request was ultimately denied. He enlisted in 2016 for a one-year term, but was discharged after five months due to Chia’s pregnancy.

Under Taiwanese law, falsifying medical records to evade military service carries a maximum prison sentence of five years.

Earlier this year Taiwanese authorities uncovered a network led by a man known only as Chen that helped various people in the entertainment industry evade military service. According to Channel News AsiaXiu’s arrest is part of the ongoing investigation into this network.

Xiu and Chia married in 2015, she for the second time, and have two daughters.

She is known for her roles in television series like “The Prince of Han Dynasty,” “The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber,” “Lady Wu: The First Empress,” and “The World Between Us.”

She won the Golden Bell Award for Best Leading Actress in 2019 for “The World Between Us” and a Golden Horse Award in 2021 for her film “The Falls.”

Xiu is known for his roles in the television series “Black and White” and “Light the Night,” and the film “At the Moment.”
