Smriti Mandhana’s century, a new achievement recorded in history, India got strength from the strong innings against New Zealand

Smriti Mandhana: Indian opener Smriti Mandhana performed brilliantly against New Zealand in the ongoing Women’s ODI World Cup in Navi Mumbai, scoring a composed and impressive century. After playing cautiously in the first few overs, he found his rhythm and hit excellent shots all around the field. This brilliant inning of Mandhana included 10 fours and 3 sixes, in which an excellent balance of both her technique and strength was seen. This inning proved to be very important for the Indian team which had suffered three consecutive defeats and provided stability to the team.

With this century, Smriti Mandhana made many new records in her name. She became the batsman with the second highest number of centuries (14) in the history of women’s ODI cricket, leaving behind New Zealand’s Suzie Bates. Now only former Australian captain Meg Lanning (15 centuries) is ahead of her. With this achievement, Smriti has become the player who has scored the most centuries among active women cricketers.

This century is another historic milestone in Smriti Mandhana’s career, as this is her third century in the Women’s ODI World Cup. With this achievement, she equaled Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who also has three centuries in her name in the World Cup. Whereas, veteran Mithali Raj is at third place with two centuries.
