New Delhi: Rohit Sharma made a brilliant comeback in the second ODI played between India and Australia. Openers Shubman Gill (9) and Virat Kohli (0) were dismissed early but Rohit played a fighting innings of 73 runs off 97 balls. His innings included seven fours and two sixes. However his efforts were not enough to secure a victory for the team and India suffered a two-wicket defeat. Gill praises Rohit expresses disappointment In the post-match press conference new ODI captain Shubman Gill praised Rohit saying “It’s not easy to come back after such a long break. The conditions were challenging in the initial overs but he batted brilliantly. I would say he missed out on a big innings.” Gill also expressed disappointment with the teams fielding: “We had enough runs to defend but dropping some easy catches cost us the match. The toss was crucial in the first match but this time both teams got almost the full 50 overs to play.” Rohit Sharma creates new history Rohit Sharma also achieved a major record in this match. He became the first Indian batsman to score more than 1000 runs for India on Australian soil. He achieved this milestone in Adelaide.
