Chhath Puja 2025: Chhath Puja is a grand festival of sun worship and folk faith. In 2025, the Chhath Puja festival will begin with Nahai Khaai on October 25th and conclude with Usha Arghya on October 28th. The Chhath festival holds special significance in Hinduism. On this festival, the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya are worshipped. Chhath Puja is celebrated with great pomp and show, especially in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal. During this fast, Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya are especially worshipped.
First day: Nahai Khaai, which falls on October 25, 2025.
Second day: Kharna, which falls on October 26th.
Third day: Sandhya Arghya, which will be performed on October 27th.
Fourth day: Usha Arghya, which will be performed on October 28th.
Every garment, utensil, and material used in Chhath Puja holds immense significance. One of these is the bowl, which is considered an essential part of the puja. Some people use a brass bowl, while others offer arghya with a bamboo bowl.
Bamboo Bowl
The bamboo bowl has been used in Chhath Puja since ancient times. It is believed that, just as bamboo grows rapidly to a height of 60 feet in 8 weeks, offering a bowl made from it during the fast also brings rapid progress in children’s lives. When devotees offer arghya by decorating the bamboo bowl with thekua, fruits, and other offerings, it is believed that they are expressing their purest devotion to nature and the Sun God.
Brass Bowl
In modern times, many devotees also use brass bowls, plates, and puja urns. In scriptures, yellow materials are considered symbolic of the Sun God, and brass or phulha utensils are also yellow, allowing devotees to offer arghya to Lord Surya in a brass bowl during the Chhath fast. If you have a brass bowl at home, arghya can be offered with it as well. Brass utensils are considered very pure in Hinduism.
