Harshvardhan Rane made his debut in Hindi films with Sanam Teri Kasam in 2016 but it bombed at the box office.

He followed it up with several other films including theatrical releases like Paltan, Dange and Savi and OTT films like Taish, Haseen Dillruba, Tara Vs Bilal and The Miranda Brothers but none could make a mark among the audiences.

Interestingly, in 2025, his debut Hindi movie Sanam Teri Kasam re-released in theatres and became a surprise hit earning close to Rs 50 crore in India.

Owing to the massive success of Sanam Teri Kasam re-release, Harshvardhan Rane returned to the big screen with his new movie, the Diwali release Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat and it has turned out to be a bona fide hit despite clashing with Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Thamma.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat opened to Rs 10.10 crore and recorded a strong hold on day two earning Rs 8.88 crore on day two. On day three, it sustained well earning Rs 7.10 crore taking its three-day total to Rs 26.08 crore.

Considering its low budget of just Rs 25 crore, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has already emerged a hit and is expected to end its 6-day extended opening weekend in the Rs 50 crore range making it the top grosser of Harshvardhan Rane’s career as a leading man.

Sharing the film’s biz, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, “Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat / EDKD continues to perform best in Tier-2 and Tier-3 centres, while major metros are expected to witness an upward trend again over the weekend.

If it matches Wednesday's numbers on Saturday and Sunday, EDKD could cross the ₹ 50 cr+ mark by the end of the 6-day extended weekend – an impressive total considering the costs involved.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat also became the first box office hit for filmmaker Milap Zaveri after the debacle of Satyavmeva Jayate 2 in 2021, average success of Marjaavaan in 2019 and the big box office hit Satyameva Jayate in 2018.
