Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provided an injury update on his defender Gabriel on Friday ahead of the side’s home Premier League match against Crystal Palace.
The Brazil centre-back starred in the Gunners’ 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, opening the scoring before setting up Viktor Gyokeres.
However, the towering defender was substituted off in the 72nd minute with Cristhian Mosquera coming on.

“He had to leave the pitch with an issue and he hasn’t been able to train yet, so let’s see how he evolves in the next 24 hours to see whether he’s available or not for the weekend,” Arteta said.
Arsenal faces Crystal Palace on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium. Arteta and Co. have a three-point lead over defending champion Liverpool.
Arteta also provided an update on the quartet of Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz — all of whom have long been sidelined due to injuries.
“They are progressing really well. They are starting to do certain activities. They are all super willing to be available as quickly as possible, but at the moment, none of them are yet in contention in the next week or so,” the Spanish coach added.
