It has been over a month since Chinese actor Yu Menglong died, but theories and speculations do not seem to abate on Chinese social media, which has been flooded with multiple claims about the actor’s demise. The actor, also known as Alan Yu, died on September 11, 2025, after falling from a building and was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Amid all the theories and speculations surrounding his death, fresh claims have begun spreading on social media platforms about Du Qiang, known as the “demonic agent” linked to the late actor Yu Menglong. According to Vision Times, online reports suggest that Du Qiang has fled to Taiwan.
The claims, which are not officially confirmed yet, have sparked widespread concern among netizens. They are now concerned about Yu’s mentor, Sun Derong’s, safety.
Why is Du Qiang grabbing netizens' attention?
Du Qiang's name was a part of the 17-person “insider list” that has been circulating on social media since Yu Menglong’s death. Vision Times reported that the names on the list are allegedly tied to Chinese entertainment industry exploitation and powerful Communist Party elites.
Besides Menglong, Du was also an agent of late singer-actor Qiao Renliang and the Shaolin monk-turned-celebrity Xing Zhongping (stage name Qiufeng), according to The Vision Times. All three died under what netizens called mysterious circumstances.
The reports that are doing the rounds on the internet also claimed that Du Qiang, whose real name is Du Yicheng, went into hiding in Tianjin following public outrage over his alleged role in Alan Yu’s death.
Claims about Du Qiang
According to archived photos, in 2016, Du was seen at a West Point Military Summer Camp in Shanghai. This triggered a speculation that he might be a former military officer. Some online users also went on to claim that Du’s backers include descendants of senior Communist officials.
Did Du Qiang physically abuse Yu Menglong?
Following the death of Menglong, multiple videos having circulation all over social media purportedly show Du Qiang physically abusing the actor.
In one clip, Yu seemed cheerful at first but immediately changed his expression after noticing Du nearby, according to Vision Times. Another clip showed Du yanking Yu’s arm, nearly causing him to trip over a luggage cart. Netizens have claimed that Du often beat Yu in private and allegedly assaulted Qiao Renliang as well, whose back teeth were reportedly damaged. The claims went viral but remain unverified and unacknowledged by law enforcement or credible media.
Du Qiang in Taiwan?
Recently, social media erupted with claims and unconfirmed reports that Du Qiang (Du Yicheng) had fled to Taiwan. He allegedly took up work as an agent for a local music company.
A Chinese netizen was the first to post about this, and he is said to have tracked Du’s online footprint using circumvention tools. As of now, the claims that Du Qiang escaped to Taiwan—or that he works there as an agent—remain unconfirmed. No official record or credible news outlet has verified his whereabouts.
