Google has named Karthik Narain an Indian-origin technology leader as its new Chief Product and Business Officer for Google Cloud. Karthik who earlier worked as the Chief Technology Officer at Accenture will now head Google Cloud’s product and engineering teams. He will also oversee areas such as cloud platforms developer tools data and Applied AI along with the go-to-market strategy for the company.
Welcoming him to the role Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said on LinkedIn “Karthik has a strong record of working with clients and a deep understanding of enterprise technology. His experience will help our customers move faster into the AI era. Welcome to the team Karthik!”
Google CEO Sundar Pichai also congratulated Narain saying that his leadership will help drive further growth for Google Cloud. Speaking about his new role Karthik Narain said “I’m thrilled to bring together my background in engineering product strategy and enterprise systems with Google’s powerful technologies and innovative spirit.”
Who is Karthik Narain?
Karthik Narain is an Indian-origin technology leader based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Bharathidasan University in Tiruchirappalli India.
In his new role at Google Cloud Narain will be responsible for everything from product development and innovation to global sales and market strategy according to his LinkedIn profile.
Before joining Google Narain spent over a decade at Accenture where he held several top leadership positions. He served as the company’s Group Chief Executive of Technology Chief Technology Officer and Chairman of the Board at Avanade a joint venture between Accenture and Microsoft.
At Accenture Narain also led the firm’s Cloud-First and Data and AI divisions focusing on areas such as cloud computing cybersecurity enterprise platforms AI solutions and developer tools.
Throughout his career Narain has helped more than 4000 companies across different industries modernize their systems using cloud and AI technologies.
He began his professional journey at Infosys in June 2000 and later worked with HCL Technologies before moving to Accenture.
