The Reasons Behind Mumbai Drivers’ Preference For Mahindra Thar: “Mercedes Are Not Designed for These Tough Roads.”

In the Indian SUV industry, Mahindra has established a solid name, especially thanks to the tough and fashionable Thar, which is renowned for its remarkable off-road capabilities. Harshul Savla of Suvidha Lifespaces, a constructor headquartered in Mumbai, recently offered a hilarious but understandable explanation of why the Thar is deserving of the moniker “official car of Mumbai.” He claims that Mumbai’s uneven and hilly roadways often resemble off-roading routes rather than city streets.

He asserts that premium vehicles such as Mercedes, BMW, or Rolls-Royce are impractical for everyday use in Mumbai. Only tough cars like the Thar or a G-Wagen can withstand the road conditions in the metropolis. He offered a hilarious analogy, stating that Mumbai’s uneven roads might easily resemble golf courses or even the surface of Mars during the rainy season, but Singapore’s smooth roads could pass for Formula 1 tracks or airport runways. Savla came to the conclusion that the Thar is still one of the most useful and pleasurable modes of transportation for Mumbai residents since the city’s roads are not expected to get any better very soon.

Why Should the Thar Be Named the Official Automobile of Mumbai?

“On a personal front, Thar was always the car I wished for, which I didn’t get in college, so I fulfilled it when I had the authority to do so,” Harshul Savla said during an appearance on Vishal Bhargava’s podcast. Sincerely speaking, Mumbai roads are off-roading roads. Thus, the greatest vehicle you can drive on a Mumbai road is a Thar or a G Wagen. These roads are designed for off-roading experiences; they are not suitable for Mercedes or, as you may know, BMWs, Bentleys, or Rolls-Royces. Let’s all take pleasure in it with Thars. That ought to be Mumbai’s official vehicle, in my opinion.

“I just attended a real estate conference in Singapore, and I have a buddy who lives and works there. He was showing me off by saying, “On certain days, we close down parts of Singapore and turn our roads into tracks for Formula 1 races.” Because of the condition of our roads, they may also be used as a runway for aircraft in the event of an emergency when planes need to land or take off. “That’s not so great,” I remarked. On Sundays, our highways become golf courses. We can also play golf on our highways, and during the monsoon, they can transport you to Mars and the moon if you want an alien experience. That’s how they seem. Thus, Mumbai’s roadways are like that,” the builder said.

“I believe the Thar is the best car to drive on these roads because I’ve given up on the idea that they’ll ever get better,” he said.

What Was the Internet’s Response?

The discussion was swiftly joined by social media users, who posted their own ideas and experiences in the comments area.

One person commented, “And Hero Xpulse the official bike,” in response to the post.

Another said, “Mahindra ought to introduce a special Thar Mumbai Edition and charge a premium for it, given the state of the roads and flyovers in Mumbai and the MMR.” This is the only vehicle that can really handle the region’s infrastructural issues, which are of the engineering wonder kind.”

“Thank you for creating such a stunning vehicle, Anand Mahindra. One remark said, “Made in India for Indian Roads.”

“Thar love in India is irrespective of road conditions, Thar is Symbol in itself,” someone said.

“Sad but true,” said another.

“Love this guy’s sense of humor,” said another.
