Vietnamese automaker VinFast has officially begun delivering its first electric SUVs, the VF6 and VF7, to customers in India, marking a significant milestone in its entry into the competitive Indian market. The first batch of cars has already been handed over to owners in several cities, including Kochi and Jaipur.
The deliveries come just a few weeks after VinFast formally launched its brand in India in September 2025. The company is moving quickly to establish its presence, rolling out its first products in time for the festive season.
For those new to the name, VinFast is an ambitious electric vehicle manufacturer from Vietnam. The company is making a major push into India with a long-term strategy that includes local manufacturing. The VF6 and VF7 models are currently being assembled at VinFast’s newly constructed factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. This plant is not only intended to serve the Indian market but is also positioned as a potential export hub.
The two models hitting the roads are aimed at the heart of the booming SUV market. The VF6 is a compact electric SUV with an introductory ex-showroom price starting at ₹16.49 lakh. The larger VF7 competes in the segment above, with prices starting from ₹20.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
By starting local assembly and beginning customer deliveries so promptly, VinFast is sending a clear signal that it is serious about capturing a piece of India’s fast-growing electric vehicle space. It will be interesting to see how Indian consumers respond to this new entrant in a market already buzzing with options.
