Strictly Come Dancing fans have been speculating for days as to who could replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman as the show's presenters. Ahead of the programme returning to screens this evening, superfans have flocked to social media with their theories - and some believe a member of the judging panel will step into Tess and Claud's shoes as the new host of Strictly.

Writing their prediction on Reddit, one fan suggested that judgeAnton Du Beke - a former professional dancer who has been on the show since it launched in 2004 - will be "promoted to the role" of host. They shared: "My main prediction so far is that Anton Du Beke will be promoted to the role of presenter. Anton has remained a constant throughout the whole show's existence by first being a pro from the first series in 2004 to the 18th season in 2020.

"He then became a judge by accident because there needed to be a 3rd judge as Motsi was self-isolating for parts of the 2020 series."

They continued: "He has loyalty to the show, he can obviously dance, he can sing, and he can entertain audiences. He's also been a TV presenter himself, as he's hosted 'Hole In The Wall' on the BBC for Saturday night primetime, has guest hosted 'Steph's Packed Lunch' on Channel 4, and hosted the 'Anton & Giovanni....' travel shows on the BBC. I can't see the BBC not approaching him first for the job. He ticks all of their boxes."

When it comes to replacing Anton on the judging panel, the Strictly viewer thought former professional dancer Kevin Clifton would be a suitable fit.

The Anton theory divided fans, with one writing in response to the post: "I hadn't considered Anton to present it, but it's a good shout." Another said: "I hope not - he is bigheaded enough being a judge and so obviously wants to be head judge - appointing him would be a step backwards."

A third said: "His habit of referring everything back to himself is pretty grating. Do you not like the Samba, Anton? Funny, you've never mentioned it..." Another penned: "Anton and Oti [Mabuse] would be a winning combo."

Meanwhile, someone else simply said: "Anton to present? He always fancied himself a younger Bruce."

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 6.20pm.
