An affordable bottle of wine inspired a moment that had the entire Saturday Kitchen table in stitches. Earlier this month, Helen McGinn, the show's wine expert, recommended the budget bottle, warning: "If you want to try it, get it now because it won't be around for long."
This caused Greg James to exclaim: "Don't tell everyone about it!" Amid an outburst of laughter, he put the bottle out of view of the cameras, saying: "This is for us! Don't show the label." Helen relented, saying the wine was "really terrible", as Greg pretended to gag and made a point to say: "Don't buy this, it's horrible." The wine in question? Aldi's Specially Selected Cigales Rosado, which comes to all of £8.99.
Helen later shared a clip of the moment on her Instagram, joking: "Don't buy this horrible wine."
She continued: "Had lots of messages from those who managed to get their hands on this gorgeous Spanish rosé from Cigales we had on @saturday.kitchen over the weekend despite @greg_james best efforts.
"We don't often see rosé from this under the radar region on our supermarket shelves so props to @aldiuk for stocking this one."
Cigales, a small region in northern Spain, has been growing wine for centuries and is known for producing rosé wines.
Commenters on Instagram chimed in with their own reviews. As one person put it: "Sorry, I bought some, it was delicious!" to which Helen said: "Hooray!"
Another said: "Cigales is fab for rosé wines! Although it's their reds I'm really in love with."
"I watched this on Sunday as a repeat and haven't been able to grab a bottle but tonight my friend I got the very last one," a third wrote to which Helen said: "Great friend."
One commenter said: "Had a bottle of this at the weekend as it was available still (last two bottles!) absolutely lovely xx"
"Didn't didn't [go] and buy 6 bottles on Saturday," joked another.
