How to avoid brain stroke

Brain stroke is a condition in which if timely treatment is not received, the patient may die. There are many cases of this in India also. Every year 18 lakh new cases are registered. But now the situation is changing. Today doctors have modern methods that help in early detection of disease, faster treatment and rehabilitation. But it is important that people remain aware about stroke and go to the hospital as soon as its symptoms appear.

In case of brain stroke, if there is negligence and timely treatment is not done then it becomes difficult to save the life of the patient. In such a situation, if a person suddenly experiences severe headache, blurred vision, dizziness and difficulty in speaking or walking, then these can be symptoms of stroke. In this situation one should go to the hospital. Regarding this, Dr. Rajul Aggarwal, Director of Neurology Department at Shri Balaji Action Medical Institute, says that the biggest challenge in the treatment of stroke is not what to do, but when to do it. He said that every minute of delay in stroke treatment can cause loss of millions of neurons. In such a situation, better treatment is necessary.

Why does brain stroke happen?

There are many reasons for stroke, such as high blood pressure (hypertension). If a person's BP always remains high then he is always at risk of stroke. Similarly, high cholesterol can also cause this. Even a stroke occurs when there is a blockage in the nerves of the brain or the nerve suddenly bursts. In some people, its risk is higher than in normal people. If a person smokes excessively then he is also at risk of having a stroke.

Many new techniques have come into use in treatment

Dr. Mukund Aggarwal, Associate Consultant (MD-Pediatrics, DM-Neurology), Regency Hospital, Gorakhpur says that a doctor's understanding and experience are always important, but today's technology has helped us a lot. If a patient is suspected of having a blocked large cerebral vein, modern tests and machines can quickly show us which part of the brain is affected, which part is safe and where there might be a risk of bleeding. This allows doctors to make quick and accurate decisions, especially in cases where delay could cause permanent damage to brain cells.
