Delhi’s north-western and western districts are expected to witness an overwhelming turnout of devotees gathering near ponds, ghats, and makeshift water bodies to offer prayers to the Sun God. Authorities estimate that tens of thousands of worshippers will participate in the rituals that mark one of the most significant festivals for the people of Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand. With an estimated lakhs of participants expected, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive advisory to navigate the congestion.

"Normal flow of traffic is likely to be affected in the afternoon of 27th October 2025 and the morning of 28th October 2025 on roads adjoining major Chhath Puja ponds across Delhi," the advisory states.

This site has long been a major hub for Chhath celebrations.

Another major congregation point will be the DDA Ground near Sector A-10, Narela Metro Station, which may attract between 20,000 and 25,000 devotees. The Bhalswa Lake near the Golf Course in Bhalswa Dairy will also witness a steady stream of worshippers, with around 15,000 to 20,000 expected to gather by sunset. The lake, surrounded by open space, has become a favoured site for the rituals of offering ‘ arghya’ to the setting sun.

Smaller but significant gatherings are expected at several other points across the district. The Mundka Nehar near Hanuman Mandir, Bawana, may draw 12,000 to 15,000 devotees, while Holambi Kalan’s Metro Vihar Phase-II will likely host 10,000 to 15,000 participants. The park has been meticulously prepared by local committees, with arrangements for lighting, barricades, and temporary ponds to accommodate the crowds.

Other notable venues in the west include Vishwas Park on Raja Pur Main Road, which could host 4,000 to 5,000 people, and the Chhath Puja Park in PQ Block, Mangolpuri, expecting a similar turnout. F-1 Block Park in Sultan Puri is anticipated to receive 3,000 to 4,000 worshippers, while Pavitra Chhath Bapu Park opposite D-Block Mangol will see around 1,000 participants.
