Price and health effects of samosas

New Delhi: Many people take samosa worth Rs 20 as a snack or lunch in the office canteen. But according to Delhi-based cardiologist Dr. Shailesh Singh, there may be a big price hidden behind this Rs 20 samosa. In a viral social media post, Dr Singh explained how small daily unhealthy eating habits can affect both your health and finances.

Dr Singh has calculated that if a person eats a Rs 20 samosa about 300 times a year for 15 years, he ends up spending about ₹90,000 on the snack. But the real cost emerges when heart problems arise, which may require angioplasty worth ₹3 lakh.

Doctor’s message goes viral

Dr Singh wrote on X (formerly Twitter), ‘You are not saving money on unhealthy food. You are taking a loan on your arteries at 400% interest. His message quickly went viral, leaving many office goers shocked and worried.

risk of diseases

Dr. Singh said that in today’s fast-paced work culture, fried snacks like samosas have become a quick comfort food. People binge on them between meetings or deadlines, without realizing what consequences their habits can bring in the long run. Over time, these habits can lead to high cholesterol, artery blockage and heart diseases, which not only harm health but also impose a financial burden.

Excuse of delay in fitness

In another viral post, Dr Singh mentioned common excuses for delaying fitness, like ‘after this project’ or ‘after retirement’. He said walking may seem difficult for the first week, but after a year, it will feel wrong to quit. The pain you survive lasts only seven days, while the regrets last forever. Choose your hard work.

User feedback

Some users joked that no one eats that many samosas in a year, while others called it an eye-opening message. Many appreciated the doctor’s practical approach, pointing out that preventive health is a better way to avoid expenses. Dr Singh’s post has become an important reminder for every office worker: Before reaching for your next samosa, think whether you want to risk your heart and ₹3 lakh.
