Just before the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, election strategist and Jan Suraj Party chief Prashant Kishore (PK) is in big legal trouble. In the case of enrollment of names in the voter lists of two states, Bihar and West Bengal, an official notice has been sent to them by the Election Commission (EC) official. This controversy has come to light at a time when Prashant Kishor is actively working for his party 'Jan Suraj' in Bihar elections, and this legal tangle has put a big question mark on his political activism.
The Returning Officer of Sasaram (209-Kargarh Assembly Constituency-cum-Land Reforms Deputy Collector) has sent this notice to Prashant Kishore on 28/10/2025. This notice has been sent directly to the address of the senior member of Jan Suraj Party.
In the notice, citing the news published in the daily newspaper "The Indian Express", it has been said that his name is registered in the electoral list of both Bihar and West Bengal.
The returning officer has mentioned two important sections of the 'Representation of the People Act, 1950' in this matter. According to Section 17, no person can be registered in more than one constituency. It has been clarified in the notice that for violating this, there is a provision of punishment of one year imprisonment or fine, or both under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act-1950.
The officer has directed Prashant Kishore to clearly present his stand on this serious matter within three days. Now all eyes are on Prashant Kishor's reply and the possible action of the Election Commission thereafter.
