New Delhi: Tech giant Google has recently denied allegations of leaking passwords of millions of Gmail accounts. Google officials wrote on Twitter, "The news of data leak in millions of Gmail accounts is false. Gmail's security system is very strong. Therefore, all the information of the users is safe." Google also said that this is not a direct cyber attack on Gmail, but a misunderstanding about the 'Infostealer' database could be the reason for these false claims.
This is the second time in the last few weeks that Google has denied reports of Gmail data leak. There were similar reports of Gmail hacking in September, but Google rejected them too. Google believes that even though false news of Gmail password leak is creating concern among users, it is also increasing awareness about Gmail security. Google has advised to use two-step verification and passkey to increase the security of Gmail accounts. This will help in preventing hacking attempts, creating new passwords, recovering email accounts and doubling the security of Gmail accounts. Google has assured Gmail users that if a large-scale data leak is detected from any Gmail account, the company will take strict action.
