However, the supervisor allegedly asked her to remove her clothes and get checked for her menstrual cycle. This enraged the women sanitation workers and they created a ruckus.
As the controversy escalated, student organizations also came out in support of the sanitation workers and started demanding suspension of the accused. After increasing pressure on the university administration, the supervisor was hastily removed.
Asked to take off clothes for examination and get photo taken
The entire controversy started when two female sanitation workers alleged that they wanted to take a break due to poor health due to menstruation. When he talked to his supervisor about this, instead of understanding his problem, he became ill-mannered. It is alleged that the supervisor, through the female security personnel, asked the female sweeper to remove her clothes and get them checked. When the female worker refused to do so, an attempt was made to force her. It is alleged that the supervisor asked her to remove her clothes and get her photo taken for investigation. After this, other sanitation workers took this matter seriously and an uproar started.
Registrar said that strict action will be taken
As the controversy escalated, Registrar KK Gupta reached the spot and said that whatever wrong has happened to women in the university, we will investigate the entire incident. He has said that at present the supervisor has been removed and whoever is found guilty in this case will not be spared. He has also said that if necessary, a case will be registered against the accused under SC/ST and such behavior will not be tolerated with any female employee. However, till now no complaint has been given to the police by the female sanitation workers or the university administration.
