Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway: Gujarats industrial hub Ahmedabad is set to receive a major connectivity as the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway is set be completed soon and will reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to just 40 minutes. When will Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway be opened? While there are no official details about when the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway will be completed and made operational various reports suggest the project is slated for completion for 2026 and is expected to be operational by early next year. However India.com could not independently verify these claims. According to reports around 98 percent work on the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway project has been completed with two key railway overbridges-- one over the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor and another across the Bhavnagar railway line-- almost on the brink of completion. The steel bridge erection and one-side bitumen laying has been completed while the 66kV GETCO substation near the Juval Rupavati village has been relocated with retaining wall and bitumen work almost done clearing a long-standing obstruction that had stalled the project Desh Gujarat reported. As per the report earthwork is underway on ramp sections on the interchange which will directly connect to the Dholera Activation Area and work is expected to be completed shortly on lane markings and signage on small stretches. How Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway will boost connectivity in Gujarat? The 108 km Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway will cut travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) to around 40-45 minutes providing a significant boost to industrial economy and intra-state connectivity in Gujarat officials said. The expressway one of the states most ambitious infrastructure projects is initially built as a four-lane high-speed corridor but plans are in place to expand it to 12 lanes in the future they added. Besides connectivity the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway which will link Sardar Patel Ring Road in Ahmedabad to Adhelai village near Bhavnagar is also designed to support industrial growth in the Dholera SIR Indias first greenfield smart city where key projects including Tata Group’s Rs 91000 crore semiconductor manufacturing plant are located. Apart from Dholera SIR the expressway will also directly connect to upcoming Dholera International Airport and Vataman with toll booths and interchanges on the route almost completed.
