First know about Vrakasana

Vakrasana has been described as better by the Ministry of AYUSH. It has been said that the word ‘Vakra’ means rotation. In this asana, the spine is rotated, which brings new energy to the body. It increases flexibility in the spine and also controls diabetes. If you do yoga every day, it easily benefits your health.

Makes the spine flexible

Talking about Vakrasana here, it is also called ‘Twisted Pose’ or ‘Half Spinal Twist’, is a yoga asana in which the spine is flexed. If we do this yoga asana, it helps in digestion, flexibility of the spine and reducing belly fat. By doing ‘Vakrasana’ the pancreas remains active and produces insulin hormone, which controls blood sugar. Also, it keeps the mind calm and removes the tiredness of the day and reduces mental stress.

How to do this yoga asana

To do this Vakrasana, first of all you sit straight in Dandasana. Then, bend the left leg and place it near the right knee and rotate the right hand near the left foot and rest the left hand on the ground behind. Then slowly turn the waist, shoulders and neck to the left and keep the spine straight and breathe normally and hold for 30 seconds. Repeat the same on the other side and practice for 5-10 minutes daily.

The Ministry of AYUSH advises not to do this asana during back pain, recent surgery, severe spine problem or during menstruation. Consult a doctor. By adopting yoga we can live a healthy and happy life.
