The National Medical Commission has issued a revised seat matrix for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2025-26 academic year, lowering the total medical seats from 1,28,925 to 1,28,875. The change comes after the Commission added 11,350 new seats this year, including seats in AIIMS and JIPMER, and later corrected data errors during its renewal process.
The NMC said the revision addresses earlier data entry errors made during institutional updates.
Registration will open on November 4, and institutions will publish the tentative seat matrix the same day. Candidates allotted a seat in this round must join the college with documents to complete admission.
The NMC said failure to join an allotted seat during this round will lead to a one-year bar from the next NEET UG exam and forfeiture of counselling fees.
