New Delhi: A major change has occurred ahead of the FIH Mens Junior Hockey World Cup scheduled to be held in Chennai and Madurai India from November 28 to December 10 2025. Oman will now replace bin this prestigious tournament. FIH Confirms The International Hockey Federation (FIH) confirmed that the Pakistan Hockey Federation has withdrawn from the tournament. In a statement the FIH said “The Pakistan Hockey Federation has informed us that they will not participate in the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup Tamil Nadu 2025. However they had qualified through the Asia Junior Cup last year.” Oman Gets the Opportunity Following Pakistans withdrawal Oman has been included in the tournament. The FIH stated that Oman was the next highest-ranked team in the Junior Asia Cup 2024 which is why they were given this opportunity. This tournament is also special because for the first time 24 teams will participate in both the mens and womens categories of the FIH Junior World Cup. Pakistan Was in Group B Pakistan was placed in Group B of the tournament along with India Chile and Switzerland. Now Oman will play in place of Pakistan in this group. This is the second time Pakistan has withdrawn from a major tournament held in India. Impact of India-Pakistan Relations on Sports Earlier Pakistan also withdrew from the Asia Cup held in Rajgir Bihar. The strained relations between India and Pakistan following the Pulwama terrorist attack are clearly impacting the sports world as well. Under the Indian governments new policy any bilateral sports series with Pakistan is prohibited. Request for Neutral Venue Rejected The Pakistan Hockey Federation had requested the FIH to play at a neutral venue but the FIH did not accept their proposal.
