Ayurvedic decoction is a combination of herbs

Talking here, decoction has great importance in Ayurveda. This decoction is a combination of herbs. Consuming it increases the body’s immunity and provides relief from cold, fever, sore throat and cold. Ingredients like basil, ginger, black pepper are rich in anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties which provide relief to health.

Know the recipe of Ayurvedic decoction

what materials are needed

  • 5-6 basil leaves
  • 1 inch ginger (grated)
  • 4-5 black peppers (crushed)
  • 1 small piece cinnamon
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
  • 2 cups water

Method of preparation:

  1. Boil 2 cups of water in a vessel.
  2. Add basil, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon and cloves to it.
  3. Boil on low flame for 5-7 minutes, until the water reduces to half.
  4. Filter, cool slightly and add honey to taste.
  5. Drink warm 1-2 times a day.

Keep in mind- Kadha is good for health but it is important to keep some things in mind while drinking it. Do not drink the decoction that is too hot, it may burn your throat. If you are giving decoction to children, you can use honey.
