New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, once again criticised by the BJP, secured another ‘Sheeshmahal’ in Punjab. The party alleged that the Punjab government allotted a luxurious two-acre, seven-star government bungalow in Sector 2, Chandigarh. The latest incident uplifted the previous debate over his Sheeshmahal in Delhi.

The BJP alleged on their social media that after vacating Delhi’s Sheeshmahal, the former Delhi CM had moved to another Sheesh Mahal in Punjab. BJP highlighted that Kejriwal posted his image as a common man, who vowed to live minimally, but in contrast, he secured a seven-star residence. BJP argued that Punjab’s resources are being spent on an individual who is neither an MLA in Punjab nor in the centre.

In addition, Swati Maliwal compounded the controversy as she accused the Punjab government of serving one individual. She also claimed that Kejriwal used a government helicopter from Ambala and a private jet, which belongs to the Punjab government. The claims are still under scrutiny.

BJP mocked the Punjab government by dubbing Kejriwal as Punjab’s ‘Super CM.’ They also posted a blurry photo of Kejriwal’s mansion on their social media and claimed that after vacating Delhi’s Sheeshmahal, now Punjab’s Super CM had an even more splendid Sheeshmahal in Punjab.

In response, the AAP party defended Kejriwal by stating that the BJP is diverting attention from the fact that law and order are getting worse in Delhi, as numerous issues have been raised in the past few months.

Earlier, the Delhi government confirmed that it would convert the Sheeshmahal to a guest house, complete with an in-house cafeteria. While campaigning for the elections, the BJP claimed that they would turn the Sheeshmahal into a museum, but now they have also taken a U-turn from their pre-election statement.
