 
            Dehradun: In Uttarakhand, the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has brought major changes in relationship and marriage registrations. Recently, 40 couples applied online to register their live-in relationships through the UCC portal. Out of these, only 12 couples received approval to live together, while 22 applications were rejected due to incomplete documentation.
District Panchayat Raj Officer Atul Pratap Singh, who is also the nodal officer for UCC marriage registration, confirmed the figures. He said the remaining applications are still under review. The rejections highlight the importance of submitting proper documents for live-in registration under the new system.

As of October 30, a total of 90,047 marriages have been registered. Of these, 27,631 were recorded by municipal sub-registrars and 62,416 by rural sub-registrars and village panchayat development officers.
A village sets a new record in registrationAmong the villages, Ghaziwali in Bahadrabad block has set a new record. It has become the first Gram Panchayat in the district to achieve 100% registration on the UCC portal. A total of 201 individuals who married after March 26, 2010, have been successfully registered.
DM urged the villagers to follow the exampleHaridwar DM Mayur Dixit and DPRO Atul Pratap Singh congratulated village head Devendra Singh Negi, Village Panchayat Development Officer Anuj Kumar, Anganwadi workers, and social workers for their efforts. They praised the teamwork that led to this achievement and urged other villages to follow the example.

The goal is to register all eligible individuals in the district by December 31.
