Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made a dominant return from injury Thursday night, throwing four touchdown passes and powering the Ravens to a 28-6 road victory over the Miami Dolphins. Jackson, who had missed four games due to a right hamstring strain, showed no signs of lingering issues as he put on a masterful performance, drawing chants of “M-V-P” from a road crowd in Miami Gardens.
Jackson was near-perfect in his first appearance since Week 4, completing 18 of 23 passes for 204 yards and four touchdowns. He added 14 rushing yards on five carries, although the bulk of the ground attack came from running back Derrick Henry, who rushed for 119 yards on 19 carries.
Two of Jackson’s touchdown passes went to his trusted tight end Mark Andrews, with the others going to Charlie Kolar and Rashod Bateman. Jackson’s precision in the second half was especially noteworthy—he connected on his first nine passes after halftime, including a 9-yard strike to Bateman that sealed the Ravens’ 28-6 lead.
The Ravens entered the night just 1-5 but have now won two games in the span of five days, gaining momentum in a competitive AFC North. On Sunday, backup Tyler Huntley led the team to a 30-16 win over Chicago. But Thursday’s win marked a return to form with Jackson back at the helm.
The Miami Dolphins, now 2-7, outgained the Ravens 226 to 109 in the first half but were plagued by errors. A pair of fumbles, a missed field goal, and offensive penalties cost them dearly.
Rookie wide receiver Tahj Washington fumbled deep in Dolphins territory, setting up Jackson’s first touchdown pass to Andrews. Later in the half, after two strong runs by De’Von Achane, the Dolphins were forced to settle for a field goal following a false start penalty. Riley Patterson then missed the 35-yard attempt, adding to Miami’s woes.
Andrews struck again in the second quarter, scoring on a 20-yard reception after two Miami defenders collided in coverage. The Ravens capitalized on every mistake and led 14-3 at halftime, despite limited yardage and third-down success (1-for-6).
The Dolphins showed some promise in the fourth quarter with an 80-yard drive, but it ended in disappointment when receiver Malik Washington fumbled inside the red zone. Fans began filing out of Hard Rock Stadium with over 10 minutes left on the clock.
Jackson’s performance was not just impressive—it was historic. He joined Tom Brady, Josh Allen, and Drew Bledsoe as the only quarterbacks to throw four or more touchdown passes against the Dolphins in at least three separate games. In his two previous outings vs. Miami, Jackson threw five touchdowns each without an interception.
The Ravens also got solid performances on defense, limiting the Dolphins to just two field goals. Tagovailoa completed 25 of 40 passes for 261 yards but was intercepted once and couldn’t reach the end zone. Achane led Miami in rushing with 67 yards on 14 carries, and Jaylen Waddle added 82 receiving yards.
Injuries added to Miami’s troubles. Running back Ollie Gordon exited with an ankle injury, while linebacker Chop Robinson and defensive backs Ifeatu Melifonwu and Rasul Douglas also left the game due to injuries.
A controversial tripping penalty on Gordon in the second quarter erased a 36-yard catch by Waddle and sparked criticism from McDaniel. “I saw a guy slip and he was called for intentionally tripping someone. That’s what I saw,” the coach said.
Despite their losing record, the Ravens are showing renewed life in a tightly packed AFC Northwith the return of Jackson bringing both optimism and renewed competitiveness to Baltimore’s season. As Jackson put it, “It’s do or die. Win or go home.”
