Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has swiftly left Mexico and returned to the UK. The shocking development follows a distressing period for the Welsh captain, who has been deeply upset by the disappearance of his family dog, Halo.
The pet was left at a ranch near where Ramsey was residing after joining Mexican team Pumas, but has been missing for over three weeks. The 34-year-old and his wife Colleen have been heartbroken by the baffling sequence of events, publicly stating they feel deceived after a search for the missing 10 year old dog yielded no results despite a hefty reward being offered.
A challenging personal situation unfolded following Ramsey suffering an injury in late September, which led to him being pulled out of Wales' World Cup qualifier against Belgium. He has been absent from Pumas' training sessions since then, fuelling speculation that he might be on the verge of leaving Mexico after a summer transfer that took many by surprise.

Numerous reports now confirm that Ramsey has mutually ended his contract and is once again a free agent. He departed Wales for Mexico after a brief tenure as Cardiff City's interim manager, while still a player at the club.
However, less than six months later, the ill-fated move has come to a close, with Ramsey's future plans unclear. The midfielder had offered $20,000 (£15,000) to anyone able to assist in finding his cherished beagle, last seen in San Miguel de Allende, in Mexico's Guanajuato region.
Ramsey hasn't featured for his new club since a 4-1 loss to America at the end of September, having initially suffered a hamstring injury. That setback ruled him out of the most recent international break with Wales, but the hunt for his missing dog has also kept him away from club duties.
Rumours surrounding what happened to Halo, whom Ramsey has owned for more than a decade, have circulated in recent weeks, with wife Colleen recently suggesting the dog may have been abducted after being left at a local ranch. Taking to social media last week, Ramsey wrote: "We've remained quiet trying to understand how you can leave your dog on a ranch and never see her again.
"Without any explanation? The cameras weren't recording, a tracked couldn't find her, no sightings, no body, and a pile of lies."
Asked about Ramsey's situation following Sunday's draw with Leon, manager Efrain Juaarez said: "We're monitoring it. I said it on Wednesday - let's see what happens in the coming days.
"He's dealing with his situation, which we all know about, involving his dog. Also, there was an issue before he left during the FIFA break. So, we'll have to wait and see what happens in the next few days."
