Aadhaar rules update: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has updated rules for Aadhaar card holders making it mandatory to link Aadhaar card to PAN card by December 31 2025. The new rules also allow hassle free self-updating of Aadhaar details such as modifying name address date of birth and mobile number online eliminating the need to visit Aadhaar Seva Kendras for updating details. Check out the three key Aadhaar rules that came into effect from November 1 2025; Hassle-free modification of Aadhaar details Starting November 1 Aadhaar card holders can modify their personal details including name address date of birth and contact number completely online without the need to visit to make these changes at a physical Aadhaar Seva Kendra. UIDAI has reduced the requirement for uploading documents when updating the details as users data is now verified using other government records such as PAN or passport. However Aadhaar holders will still need to a visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra for updating biometric records like fingerprints iris scans or photographs. New fee structure for Aadhaar updates Under the updated rules UIDAI has introduced a new fee structure for updating Aadhaar details; citizens will have to pay Rs 75 for modifying demographic details such as name address date of birth while Rs 125 will be charged for updating biometric details but children aged between 5–7 and 15–17 years will not be charged for updating biometrics. According to UIDAI online update of Aadhaar details be free of charge until June 14 2026 after which the above mentioned charges will apply. Mandatory PAN-Aadhaar linking Apart from the above changes the most important rule change mandates linking Aadhaar and PAN card before December 31 2025 failing which Permanent Account Number (PAN) card will be deactivated January 1 2026. The updated rules requires new PAN card applicants to use Aadhaar-based authentication during registration while banks and financial institutions have been asked to follow the simplified e-KYC options like OTP video calls or in-person Aadhaar confirmation to ensure a faster paperless and more transparent identity verification process. How to update Aadhaar details? Visit the official Aadhaar portal (https://uidai.gov.in/en/) Log in by typing in your Aadhaar number and OTP sent to your registered mobile. Click “Update Aadhaar” and select the field you wish to modify. Upload the required documents if asked. Double check the details you wish to modify and hits submit. Thats it you have successfully updated your Aadhaar details. According to UIDAI the new rules are designed to streamline Aadhaar services and allow hassle-free updating of user details in a simplified manner.
