Chandigarh Haryana Government has taken an important decision keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers. The state government has started the facility of QR code based gate pass through e-Kharid mobile app. With this initiative, monitoring will be increased in the paddy procurement process and the shortcomings will be controlled.
According to a government spokesperson, this step has been taken in view of incidents of fake gate passes, proxy purchases and abnormal paddy arrivals despite delays in harvesting and low production in many grain markets. This decision will help in preventing irregularities.
Farmers will now be able to make their gate pass digitally from anywhere. The QR code and gate pass number will be visible only when the farmer enters the mandi for which the pass has been issued. The government official said that the gatekeeper in the market will validate the gate pass made by the farmer only by scanning the QR code. This decision will provide relief to farmers and fraud in paddy procurement will be curbed.
