MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday apologized to his fans for not being able to greet them in person on his 60th birthday, citing security concerns for the unusual arrangement.

Taking to social media platform X, Khan shared a message that explained the situation. “I was informed by authorities that I would not be able to come out and meet all the lovely people waiting for me. I sincerely apologise to all of you, but this decision was taken to ensure everyone’s safety,” he wrote.

The actor said he was very disappointed at missing the traditional fan interactions that have been a characteristic of his birthday celebrations hitherto at his Mumbai residence, Mannat. “Thank you for understanding. Believe me, I feel the pain of not meeting you all even more than you do. I was eagerly looking forward to seeing you because I love you all very much,” he added.

Shah Rukh Khan, popularly known as the “King of Bollywood,” became 60 on November 2, 2025. Even though he couldn’t come to the iconic balcony and greet fans, there were huge crowds outside his residence, as they tried to get a glimpse of the superstar.

The actor’s gesture to post a personal message speaks volumes about the bond he has shared with his fans, who have been celebrating his birthday outside Mannat for years now. Security officials had counselled Khan not to venture out due to safety reasons, considering the large number of crowds that can go up to several thousands on important birthdays.

Over the years, Shah Rukh Khan has garnered a close rapport with his fans, often personally acknowledging them during his birthday celebrations. The 60th birthday marked a shift from this tradition but also showcased the actor’s concern for public safety and responsibility amid large gatherings.
