Baahubali: The Epic directed by SS Rajamouli made a grand entry into the world of cinema grossing impressive numbers during its opening weekend. However like most big-budget films it faced a noticeable dip in its box office collections on the first Monday. While the film made history during its opening days the real test for its sustainability at the box office came on Day 4. How much did SS Rajamoulis epic earn? According to the trade website Sacnilk Baahubali: The Epic earned Rs 1.35 crore net on its first Monday in India bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 25.7 crore. The film had a solid start earning Rs 1.15 crore from premieres on Thursday and Rs 9.65 crore on Friday. Over the weekend it continued to perform well making Rs 7.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.3 crore on Sunday. However the Monday collection showed a sharp drop as expected following the weekend rush. Why the dip on Monday? A decline in box office earnings after the weekend is a common trend for large-scale films especially on weekdays. Audience footfall decreases after the initial hype and the first Monday tends to see a reduction in collections. However despite the drop the films overall numbers remain solid and its too early to predict how the film will fare in the long run.
