India is preparing the model of ‘Ethical AI’, will host Global AI Summit in 2026: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented India’s new direction in the field of science and technology at the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC 2025) organized at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Monday. During this, he said that the country is now preparing a global framework for human-centric and ethical Artificial Intelligence.

India’s AI governance framework will be implemented by next year

PM Modi said that India’s AI governance framework will be implemented by next year, which will become a new standard for the world. Prime Minister Modi said that amid the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence, it is important that it be used with responsibility and transparency. In this direction, the government is working on an AI governance framework, which will decide in which areas AI can be used and where it will have limitations.

He said that AI should be used for the welfare of humanity and not against it. India is committed to giving the world a responsible and human-centric approach in this direction. In this program, Prime Minister PM also launched the Research, Development and Innovation Scheme.

He said that under this scheme, the government has created a fund of Rs 1 lakh crore, through which the private sector and startups will be encouraged for research and innovation. Its objective is to increase investment in areas like AI, robotics, quantum computing and deep technology in the country. Modi said that just as we took forward ‘Ease of Doing Business’, similarly now is the time for ‘Ease of Doing Research’ so that India can become the new capital of innovation.

India will host Global AI Summit in 2026

Prime Minister Modi also announced that India will host the “Global AI Summit” in February 2026. The objective of this summit is to advance the global discussion on ethical and inclusive AI by bringing together experts, industrialists and policy makers from around the world. He said that India’s aim is that technology should empower humanity, not replace it.

It is noteworthy that Google, OpenAI and many other tech companies have already announced AI infrastructure and research investments in India. PM Modi said that this is a sign of India’s growing technological confidence. In the end he said that India is moving towards becoming not just a consumer but a global leader in the field of AI and innovation.
