ICC: Today, the ICC revealed the Women’s World Cup squad, with Laura Wolvaardt of South Africa named captain. Notably, three other Indian players were selected for the squad, but Harmanpreet Kaur, who guided India to World Cup gold, was left out.

The team’s openers, Smriti Mandhana and Wolvaardt, scored runs whenever they wanted throughout the major tournament. Wolvaardt ended as the competition’s top run scorer with 571 runs, including a century in the semifinal and final, while Mandhana scored 434 runs at an average of 54.25, including two fifties and a century.
The third option is Jemimah Rodrigues, who had the best innings of her life against Australia in the semifinal. She had previously scored 76 runs in the match against New Zealand that guaranteed India’s spot in the knockout stages, and she hit an undefeated 127 to help India chase down the record mark of 339 runs.
Throughout the competition, the team’s five all-rounders—Marizanne Kapp, Ashleigh Gardner, Deepti Sharma, Annabel Sutherland, and Nadine de Klerk—astonished opponents with both bat and ball.
The ICC World Cup squad is completed by two important spinners.
The two spinners in this squad, Sophie Ecclestone and Alana King, took 16 and 13 wickets for Australia and England, respectively. The lone player from Pakistan who doubles as the team’s wicketkeeper is Sidra Nawaz. The ICC selected England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt as the team’s 12th player after she amassed 262 runs and claimed nine wickets.
