Chandigarh: Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said that the state government under the leadership of Bhagwant Singh Mann has prepared a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the process of issuing licenses for the development of colonies to encourage the real estate sector.
Mundian further said that under this SOP, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has decided to simplify the process of issuing licenses for the development of colonies. The process mainly involves two stages: issuance of LOI (30 days) and issuance of license (30 days). Overall, the time limit for issuing licenses has been set at 60 days.
The Cabinet Minister said that earlier the process of issuing licenses was quite complex and time-consuming, which caused delays to the promoters in obtaining the licenses. Through this new SOP, promoters will now receive the license within 60 days of applying.
Mundian said the government has taken several steps keeping in mind the economic contribution of the real estate sector and its role in employment generation. Simplifying the licensing process will reduce the problems of promoters and give a boost to the real estate sector in the state.
As per this SOP, the process of issuing licenses has been made time bound. All concerned departments have been given clear timelines to dispose of the cases. It will be mandatory for every employee to adhere to this deadline, and if there is any delay, disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned employee.
