Punjab: State Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema inaugurated the ‘Pensioner Seva Portal’ designed with the aim of making pension services more accessible, transparent and simple for about 3.15 lakh pensioners of the state. The main objective of this portal is to automate the processes of pension distribution through digital medium and to provide various online services to pensioners and their families.
In the press conference held at Punjab Bhawan, the Finance Minister said that six main services will be provided to the pensioners in the launch of the portal. These include submission of digital life certificate through Jeevan Pramaan mobile app, application for conversion of pension into family pension through successor module, application for Leave Travel Concession (LTC), filing pension complaints through grievance redressal module, modification of personal information through profile update module and e-KYC verification. Jeevan Pramaan app is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that using the portal is very simple and user friendly. Pensioners can register on the portal by completing e-KYC through Aadhaar authentication and avail the services sitting at home through mobile, PC or laptop. Apart from this, these services can also be availed from the nearest service centres, respective bank branches or district treasury offices. Home delivery service option is also available.
At present the e-KYC facility for pensioners living abroad is limited within India, but in future this facility will be made available for NRI pensioners also. Till then they will submit manual life certificate.
Some pensioners may face difficulties in the initial phase of the portal. Keeping this in mind, a ‘War Room’ has been created in the Directorate of Treasuries and Accounts, which will solve the problems immediately. Also, for quick help, three helpline numbers 1800-180-2148, 0172-2996385, 0172-2996386 will be available on all working days from 9 am to 5 pm.
The Finance Minister said that employees of district treasuries, banks and service centers have been trained to operate the portal. After successful testing of the pilot project, it will now be fully implemented across the state. Harpal Singh Cheema said that our pensioners are our respect. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is sensitive and committed to the needs of its retired employees. This portal will provide timely, accurate and hassle-free services to the pensioners and make their life simple and dignified.
