New Delhi: After a brief delay the official dates for the Womens Premier League 2026 Auction has been announced. As reported by Sportstar the BCCI has notified all franchises that the auction will be held on November 27 in Delhi. The venue selected is a hotel in Aerocity located near the citys airport. The upcoming WPL 2026 Auction will be a mega auction where teams will completely rebuild their squads. According to the guidelines shared with the franchises each side will be allowed to retain up to five players with a limit of three capped Indians and at least two overseas players in that group. Retention deadline has been set for November 5 Earlier reports suggested that the retention deadline has been set for November 5 by which teams must finalize and submit their retained players list. The full list of players eligible for the auction will then be made public on November 7. Additionally if a franchise chooses to retain all five players at least one of them must be an uncapped Indian. The retention slab details have also been released. Each team will have a purse of Rs 15 crore for the auction with the retention values structured as follows- Player 1 -Rs 3.5 crore Player 2 - Rs 2.5 crore Player 3 - Rs 1.75 crore Player 4 - Rs 1 crore and Player 5 - Rs50 lakh. According to the rule mentioned in the report If a franchise opts to retain five players Rs 9.25 crore would be deducted from its purse while for four the deduction would be INR 8.75 crore; for three it would be INR 7.75 crore four two INR 6 crore; and for one INR 3.5 crore. Right to Match (RTM) card will be introduced for the first time Moreover all the franchises will be allowed to use Right to Match (RTM) cards enabling them to retain key members from their previous squads. However this may come with its challenges as each team will still need to fill around 10-11 additional slots. Mumbai Indians (MI) head into the WPL 2026 as defending champions after previously winning the inaugural Womens Premier League (WPL) title in 2023. Both times they emerged victorious against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final clash.
