National: The Delhi government and its affiliated agencies have increased enforcement, automated cleaning, and water spraying efforts around the city in an unrelenting effort to tackle suffocating air pollution. As part of a citywide crackdown, officials have issued challans to 7,580 automobiles that released pollutants during the last 24 hours.
The air quality this year is still much better than prior seasons, according to Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, despite stubble burning in neighboring states, continuing construction, an increase in the number of vehicles, and the recent Diwali green-firecracker permit. “We’ve directed all agencies to double down on dust control,” Sirsa said.
To reduce construction dust, vehicle emissions, and open rubbish burning, more than 1,200 enforcement teams are on patrol. Throughout the city, 76 mechanized road sweepers, 280 water sprinklers, and 390 anti-smog weapons are stationed to support the ground force.
-258 building sites (less than 500 square meters) were examined for conformance.
-2,300 kilometers of roads were swept by mechanical means.
-219 unlawful disposal locations were examined and removed.
-91 vehicles were prohibited from entering Delhi due to pollution infractions.
-341 public concerns were addressed using social media and smartphone apps.
-105 interstate buses are inspected at the boundaries of Delhi.
With authorities promising continued monitoring until the air quality stabilizes, the multifaceted attack highlights Delhi’s urgent fight against dangerous AQI readings.
