Sports: Virat Kohli, happy birthday. On Wednesday, November 5, former India captain Virat Kohli, regarded as one of the contemporary era’s best hitters, celebrated his 37th birthday. His name has come to represent dedication and zeal. His quest to be the greatest on and off the field is just as important to his tale as his runs.

Sports

Kohli was from a middle-class household, and his early years were typical of any child who enjoyed playing this sport. His mother was a housewife and his father, Prem Kohli, was a lawyer; they had been there for him from the start.

He started playing for the West Delhi Cricket Academy at the age of nine, when the trainers noticed his exceptional timing. He started playing for Delhi in the U-15 and U-17 divisions when he was a youngster.

From Delhi’s Dust to the World Stage He guided India’s U19 squad to their first ICC Under-19 World Cup victory in Malaysia in 2008. After that, he was called up for the first time to play for the senior team in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

In his early days, he didn’t smash any hundreds, but he did demonstrate that he could play effectively under duress. After that, he solidified his place in the Indian playing XI, and as a middle-order batsman, Kohli was instrumental in the team’s victory in the 2011 World Cup, which they had not won in 28 years.

A few years later, he was a reliable batter in every format and a rising star. Whether he was leading the batting assault in the longest format or chasing objectives in ODIs, his ability to score runs was exceptional.

Statistics and Records
In the 2023 World Cup semifinal match against New Zealand, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s 49 to set a new record of 50 hundreds in ODI history.

After surpassing Kumar Sangakkara’s 14,234 runs and getting closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s 18,426 runs, Kohli is currently the second-highest run scorer in One-Day Internationals.

After Tendulkar, Dravid, and Gavaskar, Kohli is India’s fourth-highest run scorer in Test cricket and ranks 19th among all-time greats worldwide.

He amassed 4,188 runs in 125 games, including one hundred and 38 fifties, to complete his T20I career as the third-highest run scorer.

Kohli is still the only player to have amassed over 25,000 international runs and 50 ODI hundreds in all forms. He is renowned for his reliability and unrivaled desire.
